Elena Izcue Capsule
In collaboration with the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Balkanica presents a collection that pays tribute to the visionary legacy of Elena Izcue (1889). A pioneer in translating ancestral symbols into a modern visual language.
Long before graphic design had a name, Elena transformed pre-Columbian art into universal graphic codes by looking inward — at a time dominated by foreign perspectives.
Inspired by her studies on Chimú and Mochica ceramics and pre-Columbian textiles, this capsule reinterprets her designs through a contemporary lens.
Each print is a capsule of memory — a visual narrative that weaves together identity, history, design, and modernity with purpose.
Colors that come from the past, lines that tell stories. Heritage made statement.
